Cena in mumbai!!

What is so special about big hulky men, with strange names and stranger wardrobes, beating chests and then smashing their opponents' face and then involving in the loudest of dramatics?

It's entertainment!

Parents may cringe at that thought, but kids love it, especially the male species; the adrenaline rush that accompanies when bang goes a man's head. Grrrh!

Hordes of youngsters turned out at the Crossroads mall in Mumbai to see WWE superstar John Cena. Some of the little ones came dressed for the occasion, slipping into costumes of other popular wrestlers like Hulk Hogan and Big Show; some carried replicas of the championship belt. One of them appearently flew in from Dubai to see the WWE star.

The show, as made up for entertainment as the sport, was complete with a DJ and disco lights.

The crowd, which was steadily growing in numbers, went into a frenzy when Cena stepped on to the stage. Off went his T-shirt into the waiting hands of the mob and Cena got into the act. He involved the audience with the customary getsures and broke into a rap song. The man had once even walked into the stands and grabbed a beer from an astounded-yet-hystercial fan.

No beers here; only mobile phones poked out everywhere in the video tape mode.

He later thanked them and said it was the one of the biggest audience he had played to.

"The closest it came to was in Italy but this was beyond anything we had expected."

The American also said that the fans here were very knowledgable about the game. Another warning for parents to secure their TV censor mode better.

Cena, the former RAW champion, standing high at 6' 1 inches on 240 pounds and with 22-inch biceps, believe it or not, was once a very small kid.

"I got picked on a lot as a kid. So I thought enough of it; I'm going to be a big guy just so people stay away from me."

At 13, he started lifting weights and built his body in an intimidating mass of muscle.

After a shot at American football, Cena settled nicely into the WWE ring, which he asserts is a real world.

"For me, none of the matches are stage managed," said Cena.

"I have an unorthodox style, I beat people up. And because I don't know what I'm going to do next, it surprises people and entertains them. I like the spontaneity."

Cena is also all right with the WWE being viewed solely as entertainment and not as a sport.

"It doesn't disturb me that it is not taken as a serious sport. But the fact is that there are some of the finest athletes here. A lot of them have come from other professional sports. Unlike some sports, when people buy the WWE ticket at least they know they are going to be entertained fully.

"You see all this people here. They come because WWE is a great entertainment sport and they feel a part of it."

To involve the crowd further, Cena turned into a hip-hop singer and came out with his album 'You can't see me'.

"Music is another medium to express yourself, to release your emotion. Breaking into rap songs on the stage makes me think on the spot."

On his first visit to India, Cena also showed interest in the Indian favourites -- cricket and food. All he knew was that cricket was a lot like baseball and had heard about it in Australia on his last visit.

In the end, the experience of spending the morning with Cena and his fans, which turned out to be an outrageous number, was just the knid of tickling fun it was meant to be.

The WWF, or WWE as it is now known, bug that bites every youngster is back with a bite.

Taker`s lair

The Undertaker, possibly one of the most successful innovations in Pro Wrestling, is the character played by veteran, Mark Callaway. For many who do not know, Mark began his career in wrestling in a federation known as CWA. He wrestled here under two different identities: First as Master of Pain and then as The Punisher. He also wrestled in a fed called CIW under the name, Commando. Later, he moved on to the WCW under the name of "Mean" Marc Callous and was managed by Teddy Long (Now a WWF referee) and was slipped into Sid Vicious' spot on the tag team, The Skyscrapers when Sid suffered an injury. During this time as a Skyscraper, Mark worked along side "Dangerous" Dan Spivey. When Vicious returned to work, it set off a fued and soon afterwards, Mark left for higher ground and showed up on the scene with Brother Love as the WWF's Undertaker. It was the 1990 Survivor Series when the world was introduced to the man that would become 2 time WWF Champion, the leader of the Ministry and the American Badass. It was not so long after he arrived that Brother Love was out of the picture and a more fitting Paul Bearer showed up to take the management reigns. Before setting his sights on the World Champion, Hulk Hogan, Undertaker fueded with the Ultimate Warrior. On November 27th, 1991, The Undertaker surprised the world by winning the Title from Hogan after piledriving him onto a steel chair while Bearer distracted the referee. Unfortunately for Creatures of the Night, it was a short 6 day reign before Hogan beat him in a rematch. During the early period, Undertaker fueded with the biggest of WWF stars, includin Kamala, Giant Gonzales and Yokozuna. Undertaker had a tremendous record against the giants but at the 1994 Royal Rumble he lost against Yokozuna in a No Holds Barred Casket Match. It was when victory seemed a moment away that eight other wrestlers were brought out by Mr. Fuji and the destruction of the Undertaker happened. But vowing a return, the COTN were surprised to see that Ted Dibiase had announced that he signed the Undertaker and soon the Undertaker was showing up on cards. By June, Paul Bearer had confronted the Undertaker and stared him down before leaving and thus claiming that the Undertaker was a fake, swore that at the 1994 SummerSlam Ted Dibiase's UnderFaker would go down at the hands of the real Undertaker. Sure enough, The Undertaker defeated the imposter with a Triple Tombstone Piledriver in front of a sold out and quite silent crowd (I honestly believe that no one knew who was who until the end). Undertaker had sure returned with more power. He went on after that to beat Crush in a run of Casket matches, returned the favor to Yokozuna and defeated him in a casket match at Survivor Series 94, defeated IRS at the 95 Royal Rumble. His luck stopped shortly when Mabel pinned him at the King of the Ring Tournament in 1995. Went on a fued with Kama (now the Godfather) and beat him in a series of casket matches including a major casket match at SummerSlam 95. **NOTE: Prior to this fued with Kama, Undertaker wrestled Kama under the name of Pappa Shango in 92** In 1996, one of the longest running on again off again fueds between the Undertaker and Mankind began. This brought on a series of events that sent the Undertaker saga into a whirlwind. The fued included a Boiler Room Brawl in 1996 where Bearer betrayed the Undertaker and ended their relationship. The fued went on as Undertaker teamed up with Jake Roberts to battle Mankind with various partners in a series of matches. Defeated Mankind in a Buried Alive Match in October. In the same year, Undertaker battled the Executioner in an Armageddon Match. In January of 1997, he attempted a shot at the prized gold against Sid Vicious and lost by countout. He went on to interfere with Bret hart/Sid Vicious matches after Hart cost him the title. Finally in a match between the Undertaker and Vicious, Undertaker won the title for the second time when Vicious beat off the interfering Bret Hart. When he turned back to Undertaker, the Tombstone was delivered and the match ended after 21 minutes and 19 seconds. Trouble was not over, for the deadman, Bearer began blackmailing him and said that he would reveal his secret to the world. That day came and the former manager told all that Undertaker's little brother was alive. Undertaker lost the World Title to Bret Hart at SummerSlam 1997 when Shawn Michaels as the special referee mistakenly hit Undertaker with a steel chair allowing Hart to pin him. Following month in September, Undertaker gained revenge in a draw match against Michaels (actually it was more like a Michaels beating). And again challenged HBK in a HELL IN A CELL match in October's Badd Blood PPV. The brother of the Undertaker, Kane emerged and tombstoned his brother allowing Michaels to score the pin. In January 1998, challenged Champion HBK at the Royal Rumble in a Casket Match. After Tombstoning Michaels into the casket, Bearer and Kane came out ignited the casket burning Undertaker alive. Reappeared to battle Kane at Wrestlemania in March of 98 and recovered from a tombstone and pinned Kane. Went on to win over his brother in a series of matches. Interferred in a match between Kane and Austin hitting Austin with a chair allowing Kane his first WWF Championship. He lost it back to the Rattlesnack the following night on RAW. Undertaker started the Ministry and then the Corporate Ministry both which were flops and after on again off again bonds with Kane, finally redesigned his gimmick with the American Badass. Since the changeover, Kane and Undertaker seem to have bonded possibly for good and are currently reaking havoc in the WWF.
